As projected, a tight schedule with some extra commitment kinda gave a little hiatus to activities in KuKuJian.com. I have got to be honest and confess on my lack of progress in my Master Thesis, while focusing a little bit more on task in the office, related to the project in hand (which is the same project of my thesis conduct, yet there is a clear distinction between office work and thesis work)

Went to a very spontaneous concert in Festsall Kreuzberg, didn’t even know the band’s name but it gave me good rock vibes in my right ear all through the next few days..

German class is going pretty well, 7 weeks of german class couldn’t get me in much conversation. But it is interesting to pick up words here and there and have an impression (along with body language reading), to not be a total donkey face when Germans are conversing. Also the commitment in blogging in German for the school’s official blog. Blogging and sharing moments are not a big deal, but to have it in German with limited vocabularies and limited grammar, and the occasional extreme tendency of ever willing expressing – really is a challenge.

Though lots of nice stuffs did happen, some did got my hormones pumping a bit, just have to be patient in sharing it out sometimes.

1 thing that caught my amazement is how a phrase like “pratar du svenska?” (translates to: do you speak Swedish) could bring out one of the most natural and beautiful laughter i’ve even seen.

And so for the passed 2 weeks, i have not been stepping foot in the company at all. It served as some sort of mini break for me while my PM is on his annual trip to Mexico. I’ve gotta confess that i have not been on a very productive mode in these days. My sleeping hours got all screwed up. There were many nights of heading to bed when the rising sunlight is starting to squeeze through the horizon and penetrating through the tight pores of the very thin curtains of my room. And with this, i even had the experience of having the whole train all by myself for the 1st time ever..

Even so that my landlady said:

Jian, I am bored of your excuses of waking up so late everyday

Of course, we are on very good terms and I live very happily with her. Sometimes when u live with someone, there is just this feeling of: nahhhhh.. i don’t feel like going out and seeing anyone and rather contain my pee for a while more till it really reaches the peaky peak before giving in and go to the common areas and say hi.. not the case with Hanne, always a pleasure seeing her. Somehow, she feels like a really good aunty to me and i appreciate that..

Did meet some interesting people in these days (well don’t expect me to just be with my nice land lady throughout these 2 weeks, i do get a lil’ bit itchy butt sometimes). Did several trips to East side of Berlin and surely, a much cooler side of the city for anyone that really wants to feel the authenticated Berlin. Stuffs there are much cheaper and going out and getting drinks doesn’t burn the pocket that fast (note that “fast” is used instead of “much”).. It is always nice meeting new people, more so that there are also with the same mentality – Hang out, talk some shit, rewind and brain torture almost every new person by asking them to guess where i am from.

and now that I am not with any monthly card for the city transportation network, rides on the train comes with a couple of thoughts. Oh yea, i am back in my biking strides again, this time around, with a classico bike from my land lady. Old, strong and doing the job well. No pictures of her at the moment but surely they will come by.

I’ve stumbled upon by chance on a very awesome voice that i just need to share with you guys here. I’ve been hooked with the voice of Kina Grannis for almost an hour now and had the joy of being ear-lusted by her music throughout the composing of this post.

Browsing through her videos is pretty refreshing, considering that she took good effort in connecting with the viewers, sharing her humorous and personal touches in the clips. Very original, very inspiring, gave a good lift to my day.. Her voice and magnetic relating skill with viewers are just amazing.. and her cover of Taylor Swift’s Love Song is in my really humble opinion, better than the original version, with my goosebumps being my fundamental reasoning. If that did not convince u, listen to her covering Regina Spektor’s The Call, the ending theme song from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.. i am sure u will be convinced.

And so it is official, that i have learnt German for 1 month. I gotta say that it was indeed tougher than many have claimed, and i would like to add on that it is definitely harder to pick up in personal comparison to Swedish. There are just so much more rules and conditions $@!#%!@#@!

Anyhow, at our last class in Deutsch Akademie, our lovely Jordanian classmate gave sweet pinky flowers to our lehrerin. Indeed a very sweet gesture, in addition to his frequent chocolate sharing with her us in the class.

All classes here are limited to a maximum 10 students. We used to have 9 students, but a Greek man chose not to attend after the 2nd week due to the inability to keep pace with the class, putting some faults on the method that is being taught. Though somehow I beg to differ, as it seemed to me apart from the 3 hours per day class, there were not much additional effort being put in by him. Being an intensive course, depending solely on class time wouldn’t really work, personally. Or maybe he was just constantly focusing on the cute teacher other stuffs during the class..

And the last day it was, end of the beginner lessons. And being in Berlin, with Spanish and Italian party ppl in the group, it only make sense that there would be an out of classroom session. Our teacher is just being very very Kreuzberg, being claimed to be the best place to stay in Berlin (i do beg to agree this time, it is just the place for younger generations to be, and as it is, i still do claim myself to be young?!)

For once, only after our teacher is done with teaching, that she would portray her “teacher” look with her glasses.

And it is pretty soon that the out of classroom act does get a bit wild..
